RLAM appoints head of property

10th November 2020

Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) announces the appointment of Mark Evans as Head of Property and Commercial Development.

Mark is an experienced executive director, with 25 years’ experience in the real estate industry and joins from CBRE, a commercial real estate services and investment firm. In 2009, he established and has since led the growth of CBRE’s EMEA equity placement business. Mark has advised on many high profile transactions, including the launch of the Royal London UK Real Estate fund in 2017, which invests in UK commercial property across all major sectors (industrials, offices, retail warehouses, shopping centres) and regions and is designed to provide domestic and foreign institutional investors exposure to the UK commercial real estate market.

Mark will join RLAM in mid-November and will report into Piers Hillier, chief investment officer at RLAM. Mark will lead RLAM’s property team and investment process and will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities.

Piers Hillier, chief investment officer at RLAM commented:

“Mark’s leadership skills and impressive track record in the real estate market are exactly what we need to build on our successes and achieve our ambitions to keep growing property investments on behalf of our members and for third party clients. These are uncertain times, however high quality properties are still in demand and, as one of the largest property investors in the market, we are ready to take advantage of any opportunities that present themselves.”

Mark Evans commented:

“I am delighted to be joining RLAM and to build on the strengths of its property platform. RLAM is well placed, via its robust property portfolio and long term investment philosophy, to provide innovative solutions to investors and occupiers as they navigate a constantly changing and challenging market.”

This is the latest chapter in RLAM’s growth and evolution as an asset manager and follows the hires of Trevor Greetham as head of multi asset in 2015 and Peter Rutter as head of global equities in 2017. In the past five years, RLAM’s assets under management have increased from £84.5 billion to £140 billion. The RLAM property team currently manages £7.72 billion worth of property investments.
